Dermaplaning Info
Dermaplaning
WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a sterile medical grade 10 gauge scalpel to gently remove the layer of dull, dead skin cells and vellus hair in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.
DERMAPLANING Vs a PEEL?
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation process that does not use acids to remove dead skin cells. All of the exfoliation is achieved during your treatment and you will not peel or visibly shed skin after your service, while a chemical peels can result in dramatic peeling in the days following a service. Dermaplaning provides a good alternative to peels for those who desire professional grade exfoliation without the potential social downtime.
HOW LONG IS THE TREATMENT?
10 to 20 minutes depending.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY SERVICE?
You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. While the main objective of this treatment is exfoliation, the immediate removal of peach fuzz is an added benefit which renders the skin exceptionally smooth and soft. Skin care products are better able to penetrate the skin following a dermaplaning service which allows them to work more efficiently. Your makeup will also go on a lot smoother as well. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may look pink, so be sure to wear a SPF to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.
You aren't committed after one session
This isn't a treatment you absolutely have to commit to, however, repeated sessions do make treatments more effective. Iit can be a one-time treatment, but usually the best results for your skin longer term will be with repeated treatments. D it as a one off will not do any harm to your skin..
WHO CAN HAVE DERMAPLANING?
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with active breakouts and men with heavy facial hair; men can still get Dermaplaning done in areas free of coarse hair. This treatment is pre + post natal safe.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY SERVICE?
Dermaplaning is a painless treatment that includes deep cleansing, professional exfoliation in the form of dermaplaning followed by restorative treatment and finished with skin care suited to your unique skin. Dermaplaning has a similar sensation to close a shave which removes vellus hair and dead skin cells simultaneously.

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER AND DARKER?
You won't grow a beard after getting dermaplaning. Your hair will grow back, but it will just look like it did before you had the treatment. If you naturally have darker hairs, they may appear thicker when they grow back, but that may simply be because you've forgotten what it was like before the treatment. A surgical blade is used, which just shaves the ends from the fine vellus hairs. Nothing happens to the follicles themselves, so the growth of the hair isn't changed.
RECOMMENDED COURSE FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?
Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.
